Demery Cox & Ricky Cox

Ricky Cox, who won the Cowtown Marathon in 1982, 1983 and 1986, began the Trinity 5000 Summer Series in 1984 to help runners of all levels maintain their conditioning and offer competition during the summer months.

Ricky, who also ran the 1983 Boston Marathon in 2:17 and was one of only 160 runners in the nation to qualify for the 1984 U.S. Olympic Trials, has been involved in promoting running for years. His devotion to promoting running as a healthy lifestyle is shown at the Trinity 5000, where he offers a free Kids 1K before the 5K. And beginning on Oct. 30 in 2010, Cox Racing Services will start a Holiday Series to help keep runners and kids active year-round.

Demery Cox has followed his father's footsteps. Besides being a top competitor in the area, he has joined Ricky to form Cox Racing Services. They conduct and time several events in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

"I have made significant contributions to the Metroplex running and road-race communities,'' Ricky said.  "My popular Trinity 5000 Summer Race Series... has been host to thousands of participants."
